Our Goal for metastable metallic hydrogen
Metallic Hydrogen is the holy grail of high pressure physics. Just like our mission at Calutronic, we take the evidence, and proceed forward based on what we know.
What we know about metallic hydrogen existing is:
- NASA is exploring manufacturing metallic hydrogen for rocket fuel purposes. Read teheir Phase 1 Final Report
- Jupiter and Saturns magnetic field is believed to exist based on the massive amounts of, liquid metallic hydrogen.
- Scientists at several universities, including Harvard, believe to have made samples of metallic hydrogen using Diamond Anvil instruments. Of course skeptism in the scientific community still exists since the results have not been replicated elsewhere.

What we plan to do
Calutronic will proceed with finding a plausable way to manufacture metallic hydrogen.
- Micro-diamond anvil system: Calutronics will delve into the world of semi-conductors and develop micro diamond anvil cells. This appears plausable because smaller diamonds are less likely to become brittle or crack, but still provide the same surface area for compression, this could also potentially increase pressure levels to make meta stable metallic hydrogen.
- Smaller means scalability goes up, while costs go down.
- Using diamonds can be more affordable if we master the world of synthetic diamond production, giving us control over the size, perfection, and shape of the diamonds used in the cell.
